I dislike the shape of my philtrum. It is parallel and deep, was wondering if it was possible to change it to a more triangular shape, either through a lip lift procedure or a rhinoplasty? Couldn't find anything online. Thanks
Answer: Transforming the Philtrum: Cosmetic Procedures for Achieving Your Desired Look To explore the possibility of changing the shape of the philtrum, especially to achieve a more triangular appearance, it's important to consider various cosmetic procedures that might help. A lip lift procedure can potentially alter the appearance of the philtrum by shortening the distance between the nose and the upper lip, which might also affect the philtrum's shape. Additionally, rhinoplasty, while primarily focused on reshaping the nose, can sometimes influence the surrounding areas, including the philtrum, depending on the specific techniques used. However, the best approach is to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon or a facial cosmetic specialist. They can provide a detailed assessment of your facial anatomy and discuss the potential outcomes of different procedures. They may also suggest other treatments, such as dermal fillers or laser therapy, which could help in achieving the desired philtrum shape. Each individual's facial structure is unique, so a personalized consultation is crucial to determine the most suitable procedure for your goals. The specialist can also address any concerns and provide information on the risks, benefits, and recovery associated with each option.

Answer: Changing the shape of philtrum In your case, it seems to be possible to change the shape of a proximal portion of philtrum with a scar placed inside the nose and base of columella. In person or teleconference consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in lip reconstruction is recommended. Good luck.

Answer: Upper Lip Shape Change Many changes are possible, but each has disadvantages and potential complications. If you are asking for horizontal narrowing at the top of the philtral columns, bringing the upper columns together, the most logical way to do this is to remove a central vertical narrow triangular strip of skin from beneath the nose going about 50-60% down the height of your philtral columns and bring the upper columns closer together. That leaves a vertical midline scar beneath your nose which may or may not bother you. If you don't like the outcome, it cannot be reversed. Would try skillfully applied filler first.
