Armpit chemical burn? (Photo)

The final appearance, shape, and movement are not exactly the same as normal breasts. The surgically enlarged breasts do not move in the same way as normal breasts. They tend to be firmer. The contours are usually somewhat different than normal breasts. In some patients these discrepancies may be rather noticeable. Although every effort is made to place the implants symmetrically, complete symmetry is rarely achieved. Immediately after surgery, the breasts are swollen and firmer. The final shape and size is approximated after 2 to 3 months, but up to one year may be required for the end result.

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent surgery. Nair may cause superficial chemical burns as it contains Sodium Hydroxide. However, your photo is not very concerning for a burn. It is best to follow up with your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. Hope this helps.

Nair has sodium hydroxide in its contents and it can cause superficial chemical burns.Best to be supportive and keep it clean and try some hydrocortisone cream with aloe to help the irritation and healing.  It does not appear that you had the transaxillary approach so your injury is well away from your incisions.Best wishes,Dr. Denkler

Your skin does not look burned in the photo. If you are concerned it is best to be seen in person by your physician.
