Is my double chin due to recessed chin? Is sliding genioplasty or chin implant the only answer? (Photo)

I have a very stubborn double chin. I have done multiple meso lipo injections and hifu but no improvement. I realised the double chin is probably due to the recessed chin. Is sliding genioplasty or chin implant the only answer? Shall I try wearing braces to fix my overbite so it might improve the chin in some way?

Unfortunately not, only an osseous genioplasty with osteotomies may help you; beware from simple shaving the contour of the bone, that's a very very bad technical option.

You're on spot believing you are not a case for orthognatic surgery, at all! You have microgenia, this is small bone developtment at the chin, therefore you need chin augmentation with bone supply (iliac grafting); not a case for sliding genioplasty giving there's no indication to slide...

We do this frequently. The chin is reduced including any contributing structures - bone, muscle, soft tissue, skin. We should be able to get a meaningful improvement.

A sliding genioplasty or a small chin implant will likely provide similar results, so you are a candidate for either procedure. It appears that any degree of horizontal movement will improve your overall facial balance.

If your only concern is aesthetics, and you're able to eat a normal diet, I would recommend a sliding genioplasty. The surgery will not change your bite. It is performed in our office with sedation anesthesia and takes about 45 minutes. Most patients return to work in 3-5 days.
