Can you get Emsculpt Neo if you have sternal wires from heart surgery?

Question

I would like to get emsculpt neo on my stomach and legs but they were concerned about my heart surgery. Would my sternal wires heat up from the RF? I also have a Dacron graft that replaced my aorta but it is not metal. I can do MRIs and go through metal detectors just find. Thanks!

You should be able to treat your legs with no problems, and would need the paddle placed upside down for your abdomen. During the treatment, if you notice your sternum getting hot, they can just turn off the radiofrequency and just treat your muscles.  Or, just avoid using the radiofrequency for the abdomen.

Considering that Emsculpt gives temporary muscle strengthening and the procedure needs to be maintained in order to see the results you may want to ask yourself if you really need to do this procedure.  The results are typically not that impressive and the ones who get good results tend to have tight skin and very lean layers of body fat.

It’s up to your provider to decide if they’re comfortable doing the procedure or not. No one here is going to give you clearance for someone else’s procedure.

With an aortic graft I would imagine you need to also be careful with anything they can temporarily raise blood pressure or intra-abdominal pressure to some degree.

I think you’ll need to work this out with your provider or get clearance from your cardiac surgeon.

By the way your cardiac wires are made out of metal though surgeons typically do not implant ferrous material.  I can’t think of any implant material including sternal wires that would be made containing iron.  prior to having an MRI patients are typically scanned to detect for iron containing foreign bodies.

If you were considering a procedure they would have a big impact I think it’s worthwhile going through getting medical clearance but considering that I’m scrubbed really doesn’t do a whole lot and requires maintenance to keep their results I think you Will need to figure out if this is that worthwhile treatment to pursue.
