If you do not have any mechanical issues with your jaw or bite, I typically would not recommend jaw surgery. That is a major procedure with a decent recovery period. However, if you are looking for aesthetic solutions, I would recommend a genioplasty. Your chin is slightly recessed compared to the rest of your face. Its possible your upper jaw grew too far forward or your bottom jaw did not grow far enough. Regardless, this is very common, and for those who do not need/want jaw surgery, a genioplasty is a generally a great solution. In your case, we would bring your chin slightly forward and down to better balance your profile. In doing so, this would also elongate your jawline, creating more contour and definition. Our office provides simulated morph photos of expected outcomes and we are happy to schedule an in-person or virtual consultation for you!
