I had a breast lift with the anchor method. My right was bigger than the left. I did NOT get implants. I have a lump in my right breast and no feeling where the lump is. My surgeon said it is just tissue and swelling and will go away. But it's been 3 1/2 weeks and it's still there. Any help on this topic and reassurance is greatly appreciated. I'm wondering if I should book another appointment for Friday. Im not suppose to go back until kid June
Answer: Breast lift anchor method. Lump with no feeling. You showed this to your surgeon, but obviously did not receive adequate reassurance or information. Breast lifting involves some folding and compression of your breast tissue in the newly-created tighter skin brassiere. These internal tissues can swell and feel firm or like a localized lump. This is normal and every surgeon has seen so many of these we sometimes don't realize that (some) patients really worry about breast lumps. Some may even fear cancer, though this is just normal healing after major breast surgery. It's not about the pattern of skin incisions, either. The numbness is also normal, and entirely unrelated to the lump. This numbness is because skin flaps were elevated from the underlying tissue to create the new skin brassiere, and small skin sensory nerves are unavoidably cut. Every patient has numbness that will take 6-12 months to return to its new "normal." Just as the lumpiness will take 6-12 months to fully soften and reach its new normal. So your surgeon wasn't "blowing off" your concern, just failed to emphasize how "normal" and unrelated these two things are. These two things (numbness, and lump) will take months to resolve, so 3 1/2 weeks is perfectly non-worrisome as well. You could keep the Friday appointment, but really, there is no reason to do so unless you feel the lump is enlarging (could be bleeding, but at 3 1/2 weeks this too would be unusual) or if you need more reassurance than I have been able to do online. Best wishes! Dr. Tholen

Answer: Results of Breast Lift - Questioning Swelling or Lump I know that your surgeon would have chosen his method carefully, though I prefer to use a #shortscar technique, #LollipopScar or #DonutLift” rather than the majority of surgeons in the United States that use an anchor pattern lift which involve more significant scarring. If you still see this lump and swelling after this amount of time it would be a good idea to see your surgeon again with the issue that remains and find out if further action should be taken. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Breast lift anchor method. Lump with no feeling The breasts may lose their elasticity and firmness which can be caused by different factors such as pregnancy, massive weight loss, lactation and aging. To reaffirm the breasts and restore the natural look your surgeon can perform a mastopexy or breast lift. A breast lift restores a firmer, perkier, and more aesthetically pleasing shape to sagging breasts. This not only can improve a patient’s appearance by restoring her youthful, feminine proportions, but also help bras and swimsuits fit more comfortably and attractively. By removing excess, stretched out skin, reshaping the breast tissue, and raising the nipple & areola into a more forward position, a cosmetic surgeon can create a more youthful breast contour. Stretched, large areolae can also be reduced during breast lift surgery, creating an overall better proportioned, natural looking breast, Actually the perkiness on a person or another, depends on patients skin and breast tissuefor the first 3 to 4 months until your implants have settle in. I recommend you to wait and keep using your post surgical bra, that will help you with the shape and support!!
