How long after lower face lift do the stitches typically have to come out?

The lower facelift involves sutures in in the sideburn hair tuft,  front of the ear, behind the ear, and the posterior hairline. Also there is usually one under the chin.  In general, I have them removed at 7 days after post operative. If a surgeon uses staples these usually remain a few days longer.

Different types of sutures (stitches) stay in for different lengths of time, so the timing of when to remove them depends on the surgeon and what type of sutures were used.  

Your surgeon will be able to tell you when you should expect to have your stitches removed.  Typically I remove stitches 7 days post op.  If staples are used behind the ears, they are usually removed 10-14 days post op.
