If so, how soon in advance?
Answer: Jewelry should be removed before surgery Piercings and jewelry need to be removed the day of surgery. If there are piercings that you have a concern might close and be difficult to repierce, you can use a plastic spacer to keep the piercings open. Metal piercings could possibly result in burn injury to the skin when cautery is used for surgery.

Answer: Jewelry should be removed prior to cosmetic surgery We always ask our patients to remove any jewelry, piercings or any type of metal touching the body prior to surgery. This is necessary for your safety during surgery when cautery is used to keep bleeding during surgery to a minimum. Plastic spacers are available to maintain the space until surgery is complete. This is a standard requirement in all operating rooms and outpatient surgery centers.Best of luck,
