I have a fresh-pressed green juice every day, usually made ingredients like carrots, kale, spinach, parsley, celery, apple, ginger and lemon. When I have liposuction for lipedema, should I stop juicing prior to the surgery? What about during recovery, when I will be taking a blood thinner?

Answer: Green juice and plastic surgery Hello, thank you for your question. Here's information from Dr. Kristine Blanche integrative medicine specialist in my offices to help patients before and after surgery. Unless you are already on a vitamin K dependant blood thinner like Coumadin before surgery this should not be an issue. You should not need blood thinners after liposuction procedure. If you were my patient, I would want you to continue juicing before and after surgery. That juice would have healthy levels of Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, Vitamin B-6, Calcium, Folate, Iron, Zinc, and Selenium. All of these nutrients will help you heal quicker.

Answer: Cessation of juicing prior to liposuction. I seriously doubt anything consumed in your special juice will have any effect on liposuction. Nevertheless, this is something that needs to be discussed with your own surgeon.
