Dr. opened my forehead, did not do the lift. He told me he severed 2 nerves. It has now been 8 months, I have sores all over my scalp, had to shave my head to apply topical meds, and am on Neurontin, 300 my 3 times per day. Would laser treatments help? What about steroid injections into the scalp. I am getting suicidal. This is going to last for the rest of my life. It is getting worse, not better.

Answer: What can I do for the endless itching on my scalp and face Thank you for your question and sorry for your complication. Browlifts are notorious for scalp itching post operative, and this is not an uncommon post operative effect. Typically, the itching will improve over time, but can sometimes take up to a year or more before it settles down, and sometimes years to completely resolve (if ever). I agree that it is a good idea to check the incision to see if there is any hair growing in the scar, but the itching is more commonly a result of superficial nerve lysis. The sores on your scalp should be evaluated for ingrown hairs, if they are close to the surgical incision. Follow up closely with your BC Plastic Surgeon; if you do not get the answers that you are needing, get a second opinion. I wish you the best.

Answer: Scalp itching The most common cause is hair growing within the confines of the incision. Have your surgeon check for scalp incision carefully. If there are none seen, consult your dermatologist for a wide range of inflammatory conditions that can be treated medically.
