Dr. opened my forehead, did not do the lift. He told me he severed 2 nerves. It has now been 8 months, I have sores all over my scalp, had to shave my head to apply topical meds, and am on Neurontin, 300 my 3 times per day. Would laser treatments help? What about steroid injections into the scalp. I am getting suicidal. This is going to last for the rest of my life. It is getting worse, not better.
Answer: Severe itching after brow lift Unfortunately brow lift with a hairline incision ( coronal brow lift) will sever the nerves, and permanent numbness is the result. Itching can be severe, but usually improves over time. You have a difficult situation which points out the limitations in this procedure. At this point, your only solution is medication. Since Neurontin is not helping I would consult with other physicians for alternative medications to alleviate your symptoms. I am sorry to hear about your severe problem...it is a difficult one, without an easy solution, but there is hope that with time it will improve significantly. I suspect the sores are from constant scratching, and a dermatologist as well as a neurologist may be able to give some helpful suggestions.

Answer: Head ithcing after browlift Your rejuvenation looks great! When we do a forehead lift with either a pretrichial or coronal incision, the sensory nerves will be cut. This is not a complication - it has to happen to get into the correct plane to lift the forehead. This will cause initial numbness and then itching as the sensation returns. The Neurontin is a good choice to try and help with this. It should eventually resolve. As for the other issues in the head, these would not occur from an incision in the head so you need to see a dermatologist.

Answer: Itching of scalp after forehead lift. Itching of scalp after forehead lift is common but only lasts usually6-12 months and is normally mild. I have done these for 35 years and ore than one thousand and have never seen this. The key will be seeing a very good dermatologist to manage this for the next few months and it should go away.

Answer: What can I do for the endless itching on my scalp and face Thank you for your question and sorry for your complication. Browlifts are notorious for scalp itching post operative, and this is not an uncommon post operative effect. Typically, the itching will improve over time, but can sometimes take up to a year or more before it settles down, and sometimes years to completely resolve (if ever). I agree that it is a good idea to check the incision to see if there is any hair growing in the scar, but the itching is more commonly a result of superficial nerve lysis. The sores on your scalp should be evaluated for ingrown hairs, if they are close to the surgical incision. Follow up closely with your BC Plastic Surgeon; if you do not get the answers that you are needing, get a second opinion. I wish you the best.

Answer: Scalp itching The most common cause is hair growing within the confines of the incision. Have your surgeon check for scalp incision carefully. If there are none seen, consult your dermatologist for a wide range of inflammatory conditions that can be treated medically.
