Sunburn after Fraxel Restore. Am I going to get more hyperpigmentation?

I received a fraxel restore treatment 2 weeks ago and despite my efforts, (sunscreen every 2 hours and a wide brimmed hat) I got sunburnt on my face. I have very pale skin and I am extremely worried about the long term effects of the burn. Am I going to get more hyper pigmentation?

Thank you for your question. It is very hard to say if you will develop any Hyperpigmentation. To reduce and prevent damage consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for treatment options.

Time will tell if you can get hyperpigmented.  I suggest vitamin C serum, retinol and adding heliocare orally.  Also, using a hyaluronic acid based serum and growth factor cream to help decrease the redness / inflammation.  Best, Dr. Emer.
