I have Radiesse injected into my nasal fold 6 years ago, I still have the swelling and bulky look next to my mouth after six years. I heard 4 small steroid injection into the swelling area will fix the problem. But I heard steroid will make my face sunken permanent and the swelling will come back, and lately it seems getting worse, I can't control the muscle well when I talk, I feel the muscle on my face is pulling down. Any advise will appreciated.
Answer: Unhappy with Radiesse--Venus Legacy, 5FU/steroid injections for reversal A combination approach will give improvement in reversing Radiesse with 5FU/steroids and Venus legacy treatments. It may take a series of treatments to get improvement. Steroids won't make your face sunken permanently and a combination of fillers and sculptra can give improvement to the nasolabial folds. See an expert for a formal evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Defusing radiesse with scar modulators, enzymes, and kenalog Radiesse is a stimulatory filler that is an excellent option for patients who desire a longer-lasting filler alternative to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. In our office, we use Radiesse to complement structural areas of the face and contour bony prominences. Our office also is a center of excellence for filler complication treatments and we see patients who have been treated by other doctors and have undesirable results from Radiesse or other long-lasting fillers. We have treatment options available for Radiesse filler nodules, granulomas, and soft tissue thickening. The first step would be to diagnose the nodularity and determine whether there is an option for surgical vs. non-surgical removal. Surgical excision is a possibility in some patients; whereas others with more diffuse fillers may benefit from intralesional therapy using scar modulators and enzymes and kenalog. Radiesse complications may be long-lasting and prompt action is key. Patients who have no access to an expert in the field should begin gentle massage of the areas of nodularity with Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily. RF and invasive lasers can actually do more damage by stimulating further collagen growth. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Radiesse Radiesse is not a permanent filler, so if you in fact had it injected, the product should all be gone by now. There is some skin laxity and the folds over the mouth are caused by aging and loss of volume. The best thing to do is to visit a plastic surgeon to see what options may work to rejuvenate your face.

Answer: Can multiple steroid injections dissolve Radiesse? Thanks for your question and the photos. You need to understand that if you had Radiesse injected 6 years ago – it is all gone and none of the lumps or irregularities are from Radiesse. The first question would be – are you sure you had Radiesse or could it have been something else? You need to have a consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to have a thorough examination, to determine what is going on now, and to see what can be done now to correct what you have now if you want to correct things.
