Can I have areola reduction to improve the donut scars? Is scar revision the same thing? I'd rather not have the lollipop lift as it will be my fifth op. I'm 3 years post op and the scars have spread and gone wonky.Thank you
Answer: Scarring If you have had the same procedure multiple times and continue to have issues, it is unlikely that repeating the procedure will yield a different result. I encourage you to visit with your surgeon to discuss what may be causing your concerns and ways to improve results. I understand the concern of adding additional incisions, but it may be what is required to give you the result you want once and for all.

Answer: Can I have areola reduction to improve the donut scars? It is unlikely that an areolar reduction will improve the appearance of your scars. In fact, the added tension could make the scars worse. A conversion to a "lollipop" would probably give you the best chance to improve the scars.

Answer: Can I have areola reduction to improve the donut scars? Thank you for your pictures and questions. I would say that if this is your 5th operation and the problems keeps happening, you need to consider what is causing it and the answer is most likely TENSION during healing from an implant or something else. The best "scar revision" for this would be a redo of the peri-areolar mastopexy (with a permanent suture, I prefer SurgiGlide which is speficially manufactured for this purpose) or perhaps even a more aggressive mastopexy and figuring out how to offload the tension during healing to prevent recurrent stretch. Hope this helps! Dallas Buchanan, MD VIVIFY plastic surgery Tampa, FL

Answer: Breast scars Unfortunately those are the scars you can expect from a donut lift. A lollipop lift will leave you with a smaller areolae and better scars overall. You should consult with a surgeon that dies the lollipop lift and check out the scars

Answer: Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome Please forgive me if I'm incorrect, but I believe I've already answered a similar question you posted a few days ago. The answer is the same. Doing the same thing, i.e. doing another circumareolar reduction (or lift, same thing), will lead to the same result: wide scars and persistently wide areola, no matter what technique is used, no matter how the 'blocking stitch' or lasso stitch is placed. Your only hope for fine scars and a smaller areola is a conversion to a full lift, with the vertical scars. If that is your biggest fear, than I've got good news for you. The vertical scar will likely become nearly or completely invisible within a relatively short period of time.
