Best after-treatment for C02 laser?

Question

I find some articles that it's best not to let scab to form. I tend to get scars if there're scabs formed though the scabs would fall off naturally which normally happen during shower time. Should I apply Vaseline straight after 3 days post CO2 laser? or the antibiotic cream? I am prescribed Mupicor Ointment with 2% Mupirocin. Should I cover the wound until it's completely healed? & if there's any scab formed, until the scab falls off? The CO2 laser is for flat nevus removal.

In my opinion, you do not want scabs to form after a CO2 laser. We prefer to use PRP immediately after the treatment and follow this with a topical antibiotic ointment covered by a semi occlusive dressing. We will change the dressing on the second day, utilizing PRP again as well as the topical antibiotic and replace the dressing. Find a laser expert. Ask to see photos.

I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for a formal evaluation and after care recommendations. I recommend skin care with vitamin c, b5 hydrator, silicone based scar gels with growth factors and enzymatic washes with papaya enzyme to give improvement. Sun protection is essential. Lasers like Co2 work best in combination with other treatments in order to improve the skin's texture and collagen. After Co2, I recommend adding fraxel lasers, microneedling/prp and radiofrequency treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

Co2 laser is a good method for skin rejuvenation in general, and this can certainly improve your nevus. The most important aspect is post care, 'grease for peace'- keep the area moist, follow your dermatologist/ plastic surgeons post op instructions. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim
