I would recommend the Melarase Brightening Kit over Obagi Nuderm after Clear and Brilliant laser. Use twice daily a few days after laser, including Melarase AM, Melarase PM, Melapads, Replenish cream, and Spectrase. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
I recommend you use gentle products for the first 4-5 days. You should also use a nutrient serum (like a vitamin C or hydrating serum). After this time, you should notice the "sandpaper" feeling on the surface has gone away. At that time, you can resume your normal skin care routine (including all of the Obagi products).
I recommend you use only nonabrasive, nonirritating and noncomedogenic skincare products including a gentle cleanser and bland moisturizer for a few days after the treatment. Once the skin has returned to normal, after any sloughing or sandpaper texture has resolved, you can restart your normal skincare regimen including the Obagi Nu-Derm system. For my Clear + Brilliant patients, particularly those who get treated with the 1927 nm Permea handpiece, I recommend a topical skincare regimen that includes SkinCeuticals CE Ferrulic. This antioxidant by SkinCeuticals was the one used in the initial studies demonstrating up to 17x increased skin permeability to topical skincare products after C+B treatment.
Timing is everything, depending on the settings and passes, your therapist will guide you as to the healing times. Generally I like to wait 3-6 days, depending on the products and your skin sensitivities. Though C and B is meant for a full face even application, good operators will lay extra laser areas where it is need, meaning treatments are always individualised. Hence we always guide patients as to their healing time and product use. Bland washes are advised for the first few days. Dr Davin Lim. The Fiori Institute of Skin and Body. Brisbane, Australia.
It is possible that the reaction was from the numbing medicine or the laser itself. You should identify the cause of the reaction and you can take Zyrtec several days before the procedure to avoid this histamine reaction. Best, Dr. Green
All good, 6-8 passes using the 1927 at 5 mj...which is at its maximum. Laser itself will not be effective, you must combine this with a lightening agent - such as HQ, Lytera, and or antioxidants such as Vitamin C. You must sun protect, and you will need 4-6 C and B treatments, 2-4 weeks apart....
Clear and Brilliant is very similar to a Fraxel, except the maximum energy is only 5 mj, about a quarter of the maximum energy of Fraxel, the 1927 wavelength is similar, whilst the 1550 wavelength of the Fraxel is very close to the wavelength of the C and B. Video explains the differences...
