It's possible you may have a seroma (fluid collection) under your abdominal skin. I would recommend seeing a plastic surgeon sooner than July in case this needs to be drained- which can be done in the office. An exam will give you more accurate information than the photos.Best wishes,Dr.Bruno

Its not uncommon for amount of skin that was removed for you to have some swelling and possible fluid collection given the poor lymphatic out-flow.  I would recommend following up with your plastic surgeon to be evaluated.

Thank you for your questions and photos.  Prolonged swelling or edema can certainly be common after a F-de-L tummy tuck as the venous drainage is severely compromised  by the nature of the procedure.  A fluid collection or seroma can also give you the symptoms that you are describing.  I would advise that you not wait 5 months to return to your surgeon.  There are multiple therapeutic modalities that can be used (massage, seroma drainage, etc) to improve your result, but the true cause must be determined and this can only happen with an exam by your surgeon.  Best wishes!

thanks for writing,The real answer as to what this is will be when your surgeon puts his / her hands on your belly wall. A common thing is an accumulation of fluid ( seroma), which if present can be drained and may require an indwelling catheter or repeated aspirations. You really need to contact your surgeon and get this evaluated before July.
