Severe itching with capsular contracture?

I got my 2nd BA last April. Within 5 mo I developed a Cap Contr. My now retired surgeon pres. me Singular to try break up scar tissue. It hasn't worked and I have a consultation with another surgeon in a month and a half. The last few days my breast has had severe itching. My Capular Contracture is advanced (most likely IV) I have no feeling on almost my entire breasts. I can't relieve the constant itch as I can't even feel scratching. Becoming worse & worse and very uncomfortable. Any advice?

Hello and thank you for your question.  I am sorry to hear that you are suffering from capsular contracture.  If you are having bothersome symptoms, I encourage you to seek consultation sooner with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in revision breast techniques. The good news is that your situation can be improved and if you had silicone implants placed, that there is a good chance that you have eligible warranty to help cover some of your costs to get it fixed.  I hope this helps and best of luck to you!Sincerely,Dr. Sean Kelishadi

as it leaves you having to continue your care with another surgeon and without benefit of any revision policy.  I will be facing retirement someday and will have some perks to offset the downside of having a retiring surgeon do your work.  That being said, since your over a year out from surgery, you can have more surgery to correct your problem.  There are so many issues in determining what the 'best' way is to manage your problem but also realize that if you have decent breast tissue present, you can always just get rid of your implants.  As for the itching, you have to make sure you are not having an allergic reaction to something you are taking.  If not an allergy, you could use topical anti-itch products to help with your symptoms and oral antihistamines as well.

External ultrasound might be helpful until you can have the capsule removed in surgery. Accolate might possibly give some relief, as well as Benadryl. Perhaps call your new surgeon's office and see if they have an earlier opening.
