Hello Ash11leo3alex3,It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) successful results can be permanent. Usually, a highly skilled and experienced plastic surgeon will achieve around 65% to 85% survival rate of the fat cells, and the rest will be harmlessly reabsorbed by the body. Patients can actively contribute on the success of the procedure and longevity of the results by following their surgeon’s recovery recommendations. I typically suggest my patients avoiding cigarettes and heavy drinking because these habits reduce circulation throughout the body, leading to the degradation of new cells. Another fundamental measure is wearing specialized compression garments around the clock (except for showering) during six months, to reduce swelling and help their skin contract smoothly to their new body’s contours. Additionally, at least ten lymphatic drainage massage sessions are required, starting 24 hours after the procedure, to eliminate excess lymph fluid, alleviate swelling and discomfort, and also prevent complications such as seromas (fluid collection) and contour irregularities (indentations, and/or fibrosis). In my experience, patients who successfully avoid sitting or putting pressure on their buttocks or stretching for the first 8 weeks after BBL surgery are much more likely to have long-lasting results than patients who fail to follow this advice. I wouldn’t recommend doing squats and lunges during the first 8 weeks following BBL surgery because it can cause the newly transferred fat to reabsorb. However, it is important to exercise and diet after your procedure to have long-lasting results. Without proper diet and exercise, you may gain weight after surgery and may lose the wonderful results of your cosmetic surgery. Hope this is helpful! Dr. De La Cruz.
About 60% of fat from the transfer is retained and the results are permanent. The size will change with your weight just as the rest of your body does. In other words, the fat acts like it was naturally there. You can get a good idea of the final result after 6 months.
hi thank you for your question and provided information as well. based in your question its recommended to keep your result its dont do extremely diet before the 4 month after surgery
Every surgeon has a different recovery protocol so it is best to talk with your plastic surgeon about what he/she recommends for you. With that said, I advise my patients not to sit on their rear ends at all for the first week. After then they may sit for short periods of time with a pillow under your legs above the knee for 8 weeks, it doesn't have to be a special BBL pillow if you don't want to draw attention to it. I would not recommend sitting normally without a pillow for 8 weeks. Good luck!Kamran Azad, MD, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dear Ash11leo3alex3,you are still in early postoperative period so there will probably be some changes in size as swelling goes down. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. After a BBL, only about 70% of the transferred fat cells will survive, so it is normal to see a minor reduction in your buttocks. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.Good luck :)
Hi. There is nothing you can do but to wait maybe a little bit of reabsorption and swelling. Avoid massages and ultrasound to the area.International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS)Member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS)Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
A good candidate has enough fat available for transfer in the procedure. The amount of fat that can be transferred in a BBL depends on how much fat the patient has to harvest and the amount of space there is to move the fat into. It is recommended for the patient to have a BMI of 30 or less. If...
