i had fat transfer surgery 2 weeks ago and i feel like im wearing a gjrdle around my waist even when im naked. Also theres a crese. It's like a roll between my upper and lower stomach. I didn't have this prior to surgery. will this go away? also my main concern was making sure i get a completely flat stomach after surgery am I'm in the right direction?
Answer: Swelling Swelling can last for several months, but the most important thing to do is to keep in touch with your surgeon to make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary with your healing. My patients usually have to wear extra foam support in areas of creases and swelling to flatten those areas as they heal. I also usually recommend lymphatic massage to help move the fluid trapped in those areas.

Answer: Swelling after Liposuction Hello and Great Question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Butt Augmentation Specialist. Bruising, Swelling, and Firmness are expected for the recovery. Bruising typically takes 1 to 2 weeks to subside. The swelling takes longer and begins to decrease at 3 weeks after surgery. It will typically take a total of 6 weeks for the majority of the swelling to be gone. Firmness is also expected. This is partially due to swelling and partially due to the liposuction. Think about when you sprain an ankle, it gets bruised, swollen, and firm. It also take at least 6 weeks to 3 months to soften. For some people it is less time and for others it is longer. Starting at 1 week after surgery; I want you to massage daily to soften the areas. In my opinion, this a KEY step to faster recovery. In my practice I utilize a garment. The garment helps to decrease the swelling, bruising, and firmness. If you are utilizing a garment, please make sure the garment is not causing the creasing in your tummy. If it is, you may need to switch garments.I hope that helps! Best of Luck! Matthew J.
