I'm a 24 year old female with AGA hereditary hairloss, and I've read a few studies that indicate dairy and gluten can have a negative impact on hair loss. I stopped eating dairy and gluten for a few months (among doing other things to improve my hair loss) but not sure if that is why I see improvements. I am hoping you can shed some light on this for me, should I go back to not eating gluten and dairy, or is there is no scientific proof that this will enhance/cause hair loss. Thank you so much!
Answer: Dairy and gluten products do not cause hereditary hair loss. Genes cause hereditary hair loss. Dairy and gluten products do not cause hereditary hair loss. Genes cause hereditary hair loss. For men, this hereditary hair loss occurs in a pattern. That is why they call it Male "Pattern" Balding (MPB).

Answer: Gluten-free, dairy-free diets and AGA No, there is no scientific proof to date that gluten can directly impact AGA. Of course, if someone has celiac disease (the disease that comes with being gluten sensitive), it's possible to have poor absorption and low iron. This can lead to shedding (telogen effluvium) not genetic hair loss. There is no scientific proof that dairy consumption can impact AGA. You may be read some information lately about alopecia areata (see link below). That is a different condition and gluten may have a role (mostly in children who prove to have celiac disease)

Answer: Healthy Diet Always a Good Idea There is no direct evidence I know of dairy or gluten causing hair loss. In general, hereditary hair loss is precipitated by genetic factors but can also be influence by other unidentified factors. Gluten and dairy have not been identified, but a healthy diet fueling your cells with plenty of antioxidants is never a bad idea. If you continue to have hair loss, remember that the sooner you intervene the more likely you are going to have success in treatments.

Answer: Nutritional aspect of hair loss There is a correlation between nutrition and hair loss. If you deprive your self of nutrition or lose a lot of weight you may get some general thinning of your hair. However, if the cause of your hair loss was diagnosed to be genetic then there is no correlation. It is best to find out the cause of your hair loss, so you can address your concerns and find the appropriate treatment option.
