Can Finasteride make hair loss worse?

I was on fin for almost 5 months and it appeared to make my hair loss worse. I experienced worse hair shed and an almost burning or tingling sensation in the areas where the loss is worst over my left hairline and temple after starting fin that I had not experienced before. I am now 10 months after stopping and my hairloss has been very bad and I still have the tingling over the past year. It seems that fin triggered worse balding. Is this possible? I would venture upregulation as a mechanism.

Answer: Finasteride should not make hair loss worse. If you have advanced genetic hair loss you may find finasteride may not help.
