Bumped into husband's razor and nicked my nipple -- could it cause an infection? (Photo)

I'm 5 weeks Post op and bumped into my husband's razor, grazing my nipple, the nipple has been cut, very minor, though. I want to know since it bled am I at risk for my implant to get infected. I cleaned the area and applied triple anti biotic ointment. I have 750cc SRM Inspira's

To be on the safe side, I would suggest you inform your surgeon so they know what happened. If any signs of infection develop, specifically excessive warmth in the area, tenderness or redness, please let your surgeon know asap.

Hello!You should not worry. Cleaning the nipple and applying antibiotic ointment is the right treatment. Keep an eye on the area. If redness or tenderness develops you should contact your surgeon for antibiotics.Best of luck!

Hi and thank you for your question.  While it is possible for any cut to become infected and any minor infection can travel to the breast implant pocket, because you promptly treated this cut with first aid care it is unlikely that this will become an issue.  An implant infection is accompanied by fever, redness, tenderness, and/or body chills but I would recommend reaching out to your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to inform him/her of what has happened and adhere to their recommendations. Yes it's possible to get an infection even from a simple razor cut, so you should quickly treat the area with first aid and if there are any concerns contact your physician.  Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.

Highly unlikely. So unlikely that I would not give it another thought unless for some reason you developed signs and symptoms of a local infection at the cut site.
