Are there any modern breast implants that last longer than ones used in the past?

Modern implants have a thicker shelf and tend to last longer and resist leakage better than ones used years ago

The current generation of breast implants have a greater longevity than those used in the infancy of breast augmentation. In spite of this, they are not expected to last a lifetime and will likely require replacement over time.

There are newer implants. However, implants are not lifetime devices as declared by the FDA. Some implants can last a lifetime and some fail rapidly. It may not be the implant that fails but the body's response to the implant or the patient's perception of the results are unsatisfactory and require removal.

No implant lasts forever- just as no dental filling, heart valve, joint replacement, etc lasts forever either and may need to be replaced at some point.

New gels are gummy bear or cohesive which last many years, longer than older gels and salines and look, feel more natural.

They also come with a warranty to help in certain implant situations.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to further discuss your options and expectations.

The average lifespan of the implants is still dependent upon the bag. The bag lasts 10 to 20 years on average, but I have seen some not make a year and some last over 40 years.
