Hi, I am 37 years old, bi-racial and had a belt lipectomy completed December 2021 with a scar revision this year of 2022. I noticed that a crease extends from above my scar that makes it look like it's my butt crack but it's not. Is there any recommendations for me to fix this? Lasers treatments, etc.? Even in jeans I can't hide the crease and would like to know if there is anything that is recommended?
Answer: Belt lipectomy back crease butt crack after lower body lift butt crease after lower body lift body lift revision fix butt crack Hi Melfern1109, Thank you for your question regarding what to do about a buttock crease that extends above your 360 circumferential lower body lift or a belt lipectomy. This is not an uncommon problem after a lower body lift. It has to do with the vectors of the pull of the skin. When completing the belt lipectomy, the skin in this area is brought together. Sometimes, the pull of the vertical buttock crease can pull the skin together like this above the scar. Thus, the pull of the skin vectors creates a crease above the scar. Lasers will not fix this problem. The solutions to this problem are surgical. They were two options. One solution is fat transfer and the other solution is scar revision. The problem with fat transfer is that this area will become bigger. This may not be your goal and performed incorrectly would look unnatural. Another surgical solution would be revision of the lower body lift scar. Your chosen plastic surgeon has to be very careful on the way he or she pulls the skin. If you draw a line vertically where the crease is now, the skin lateral to this line must be pulled at a 45° angle. By pulling the skin in this fashion, the fold will be pulled apart. This is not an easy problem do fix, but this problem should be relatively straightforward for plastic surgeons experienced with lower body lifts. Good luck. I hope this helps answer your question regarding how to fix a buttock crack that extends above the body lift scar. I specialize in reconstructive plastic surgery after weight loss. If you have any more questions regarding the lower body lift, 360 circumferential lower body lift, belt lipectomy, belt abdominoplasty, or belt dermolipectomy please contact my office. Since the body lift is a big procedure, please seek an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon with significant experience performing the lower body lift. Do your research. Make sure they have performed at least 100 circumferential lower body lift surgeries and have the before and after pictures to prove it. Carefully examine their before and after pictures and check their reviews on RealSelf. If you cannot find an experienced, lower body lift surgeon in your neighborhood, consider traveling out of state if you must. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
