Yes that is completely within the normal after getting botox. It should resolve rather quickly. If it worsens or becomes red see your Dr. The true results can take up to a week some times depending on the dose and location of the treatment.Hope this helps,Best of luck,DrC
Thank you for your question. It's difficult to gauge final results after only 24 hours. I would give it a few more days to give the swelling a chance to subside. If the welts are still visible, I would strongly recommend following up with your injector, especially if symptoms worsen.
Some small bumps in one or two Botox injection sites could occur if there is a little bruise but large multiple welts are not common at all. If anyone develops a reaction such as this, they should go back to their provider, hopefully a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon, immediately to be evaluated. Your doctor will want to know if there is any itching or if the welts are tender. If it is an allergic reaction, it may not be the Botox but it could be the solution with which the Botox was mixed. As an example it might be the preservative in the saline solution, but it could be a component of the Botox. A referral to an allergist may be helpful to sort it out.The information provided in Dr. Shelton's answer is for educational purposes only and is not intended to constitute medical advice. Thank you for your pictures and question. Mild redness, bumps and swelling are very command expected after Botox injections, but typically are totally resolved in less than 30 minutes. Your reaction is definitely not typical. You might have bruising or have an allergic reaction. You should contact the office and inform them of your reaction. Hope this helps. Best, Dr. Avaliani
No, it is not normal to have swelling on your forehead 24 hours after Botox injections. You should contact your provider.
Thank you for your question! It is definitely not typical to have welts such as yours after Botox injection. It is possible that it is an allergic reaction to a numbing agent that you used or something else. I would definitely return to your treating physician for examination and please keep us posted. Best of luck!
It is very uncommon to develop welts on your forehead following Botox. If you are concerned about an allergy, I would recommend following up with your injector who may have a recommendation for treatment. After only 24 hours, the medication itself has not reached it's point of efficacy, so as far as your asymmetry goes, I would give this more time to allow the treatment to take effect. Best of luck!
Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin lock the release of a chemical called acetylcholine, which triggers the muscle contractions that create wrinkles. Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin essentially paralyze the muscles and stops them from contracting. Results from these treatments are visible within 3-7 days with results that can last anywhere from 3-4 months. Based on what you are describing is within the normal. You should follow up with your injector to discuss any concerns or questions. Best Wishes.
Thank you for your question and for sharing your photograph Tofutaco. I understand your concern. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles. The most common areas of treatment are in the upper face. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when one raises the brows, the vertical lines seen between the brows when one frowns (frown lines), and the crow's feet seen around the eyes when one smiles. It is difficult to make an assessment in the absence of consistent photographs before and after in the same lighting and angles for comparison. However, I hope the information provided here is useful. The pivotal studies used 20 units of Botox in the forehead area above the brows to address the horizontal lines seen when one raises the brows. These studies demonstrated that the peak results are seen 14 days after the treatment and most people enjoy their results for 3-4 months. At that point, a maintenance treatment is recommended. While some people start to see results as early as the next day, it can take two weeks for full results so patience is important. We have our patients return two weeks after their treatment to assess their results via photographs. At that time additional units may be added if necessary. The safety record of Botox is well established. The product has been used for over 20 years for a variety of treatments with minimal side effects. Botox is amongst the safest treatments for treating facial wrinkles. With any injection, there are risks such as pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness, and infection. We take special precautions to minimize these risks such as using a painless technique. We also treat bruises with a laser as early as the next day. Bruises usually resolve within two weeks if untreated. After a laser treatment bruises usually resolve in 1-3 days, but may still take two weeks for full resolution. In addition to these risks, with Botox there is also a risk that the product spreads or diffuses to nearby structures. Spread to nearby muscles can lead to side effects such as the temporary appearance of droopy eyelids or a temporary asymmetric smile.Swelling is normal for about one to two hours after a Botox treatment. Normally bumps are seen as a result of the liquid being placed in the skin. If I had a patient who had bumps as shown here, I would recommend that she return to her provider for an assessment and recommendations. It was not stated if there was a numbing cream used and allergies to such creams may cause this type of reaction. After a Botox treatment, I recommend that my patients avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and not lie down flat for four hours. This is because all of these activities may possibly lead to the movement of the product and consequent side effects such as droopy eyelids. Although there have been no definitive studies shown that these actually occur and some physicians do not provide such aftercare instructions, in the absence of data I err on the side of caution and recommend that my patients avoid such activities. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Thank you for your question! From what you are describing it sounds like there is an issue with the placement of the botox or potentially the dosing. Botox is not permanent so the symptoms should wear off. You should contact your provider who should re-evaluate you in order to address the is...
