Question

I got PDL laser on my face (cheeks only) for redness. This was my second session and the intensity was increased. It's been 2 weeks and my cheeks have only gotten more red then before. I am worried the increase in power caused permanent worse redness in my cheeks being that it's been almost 2 weeks and i have not seen any results when the first treatment went well and saw results in just a couple of days. I wake up more red than ever before. Did something go wrong?

Contact your provider to review photos and discuss your results. Difficult to evaluate without before and after photos. Discuss any new products that you have started using if that is the case.

Thank you for your question, Pulse Dye Laser can be used for several treatments. In your case since you are using it for facial redness I would wait up to 4 weeks to see the final results. Also, several treatments are required each patients case varies. I suggest having an in-person consultation with your provider to go over your options and final results. Please make sure you seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.

It depends on what the intial problem was.  If you were treated for small capillaries that were visible before, they may look more noticeable for several weeks until the body takes care of them.  If you have rosacea, your blood vessels can be very sensitive to heat and sun, so make sure you are using a very good physical sun block and watch out for triggers that make your skin feel hot and blushing, like hot beverages or spicy foods for some people, or products that feel stingy or tingly when applied.  I would see your dermatologist or person who did the laser treatment, as they know your skin better than we can evaluate without an in-person visit.  Best of luck!
