Is it normal to feel sick after Botox/filers?

Question

I had fillers in my nose/ cheeks and had Botox in my jaw/eyebrows for a brow lift (all on different appointments). I felt fine after getting fillers in my cheeks and Botox in my jaw but when I had fillers in my nose and Botox in my eyebrows both times after I felt very sick; I had a very bad headache and felt light headed as if I was going to faint. I was just wondering is it normal to feel this way after?

Thank you for your question and I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well. While headaches are common, your other symptoms may not be related to Botox injections. If you're still feeling unwell, I would follow up with your injector or a physician.

A light headache/migraine post injectables is rather common and will subside however if the headache/dizziness is severe/persistent for several days/weeks - I suggest seeking medical attention right away. Best, Dr. Emer.

A headache can be typical, but feeling faint is not. If it persists, I recommend following up with your injector. It will take 1-2 weeks for final results. Hope this helps.

Do you feel ok now? You might need a check up to make sure it isn't something completely separate to the Botox.
Headaches are reasonably common but light headedness is probably quite rare (though still possible).

Thanks for you for question and we always recommend that you have these in the offices of a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon – and that in these consultations, you learn all of the potential adverse events or things that happen to many – including headaches. These can persist for several weeks after the procedure, but I am sure you will do fine shortly.

Thank you for your question! Having a headache after Botox that lasts for several days is not uncommon. Occasionally, these injections can start a mild migraine in patients with a history of headaches.  This usually goes away after a few days and typically can be managed with ibuprofen/tylenol or similar headache medicine.  The other symptoms are more unusual and may or may not be related. The puffiness/ swelling around the eyes could be due to the injection if your injection was around the eyes but this should go away after several hours or possibly days in some patients that are sensitive to injections--cold compresses may help.  If you didn't have an injection around the eyes, it is likely unrelated.  If the symptoms do not go away, you should visit with your primary MD to see if there is another cause for all of your symtpoms. It is not usual to feel like this after Botox and fillers and is not really related to them other than perhaps you had an anxiety reaction temporarily

The fact that you got a headache and you felt somewhat dizzy tells me that you most likely had a panic attack in which the blood pressure significantly drops. Some people get it but the majority do not. But it's not so unusual so you have nothing to worry about and most likely this is related to the fact that the injection of fillers into the nose can be quite a bit more painful. After all those needles to you head and face, it can be cause headaches.  Headaches are potential minor complications.  As far as your lightheadedness, that may be due to your headache being severe.  Almost sounds like patients with migraine headaches where at time gets so bad that they felt nauseated.  The eyebrow Botox injections are closer to the frontalis forehead muscle.  I highly recommend you mention these symptoms to your injector if you haven't already done so.  Perhaps use lesser dosage or not do your filler AND Botox during the same visit to process eliminate which one is really causing these symptoms.

Hello,Headache is a well documented "complication" of Botox.  Light-headedness is not.  Typically the headache is mild, lasts a day or two, and is well managed by over-the-counter pain medication.  Most often it is described as being in the front/forehead area.  Ironically, Botox is used to treat chronic headaches.  Even in the same person, you can have the Botox at first cause a headache for a couple days and then relieve headaches for the next few months.  I can't speak to the light-headedness issue.  You should speak to the doctor who did your treatments.Best Regards,Dr. A
