You certainly can wear your trays without buttons (attachments) on your teeth, even if they are supposed to have buttons in place. This can reduce the effectiveness of your treatment and subsequently increase the number of weeks or months that you spend in Invisalign treatment. I would suggest wearing the buttons, but if it's not an options, make sure you pay close attention to your teeth and let your doctor know at the first sign of needing a refinement.
