When will my lip return to full mobility after rhinoplasty?

I had rhinoplasty coming up to a month ago now and though I can smile pretty much normally, I can’t put my lips together as if to say ‘m’ or ‘p’. It’s still quite numb just under the tip of my nose and inside my nostrils a little too. I haven’t heard complaints of this kind of restriction from rhinoplasty before and therefore am just concerned that it’s normal and will go.

This is a great question. It is normal to have some numbness around any incision line, but this will improve over months. The lip mobility issue is not commonly seen after rhinoplasty, but likely will fully recover as well.

It is not at all uncommon to experience this, and as you may be aware, healing from rhinoplasty takes time and patience. It is also a good idea to consult with your surgeon during follow-up visits, as they will be your best guide during the initial and ongoing post-operative healing process.
