Should I be concerned about my low white blood cell count before breast augmentation surgery?

In 2 days I am getting BA surgery. Beforehand I thought it would be wise to get a check up at the skin doctor, obgyn and family doctor. I have the green light from skin and obg dr. But family dr is very much against plastic surgery. On Wed I gave blood and urine. Friday evening I get a call saying everything came back healthy but I have a low white blood cell count of 1.6 and not to go through with surgery. My husband is fighting a cold. I have no symptoms and feel fine. Advice please.

First you need to find our why your blood count is low, and if you have an infection. Reach out to your family physician for clarification. Be sure to keep your surgeon updated on all health issues. Best wishes!

Get your blood count rechecked. Don’t be surprised that your doctor is against plastic surgery. If you are healthy overall there should be no problem proceeding. In fact many doctors don’t even check a blood count

You need to asl your surgeon for only your surgeon will decide if he/she is comfortable enough with your low white count. Usually, a white count this low means you have a viral infection.
