Would a breast augmentation correct my pointy breasts? (photos)

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a good candidate for breast augmentation and lift together. Your breasts appear to be drooping which can be corrected with a lift and then the implants will give you a more rounded appearance. I hope this helps.

Hello! Thank you for your question. There is a constriction of breast parenchyma, and there is also a slight sagging. Breast augmentation can improve the sharpness of the shape. Sagging breasts and shape can be improved by periareolar mastopexy performed together with breast augmentation. However, if you are planning to have a baby, then I recommend having the mastopexy after the pregnancy and breastfeeding is over, due to the scar that can expand during the pregnancy and breastfeeding.

I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants and they choose what looks right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Thanks for your question. Implants alone would increase your volume and give you some elevation, but that same breast would still be living on top of the implant. To change the shape you would likely need a lift. Which kind of lift would depend on the size of the implant you choose. A pariareolar lift can help to flatten the areola and take on more of the shape of the implant, but it is limited in its tightening ability. Full lifts can provide a more dramatic change of shape. You PS will have to help guide you based on your volume goals. Many of my patients allow me to chose the type of lift during the surgery depending on what I see after the implants are in. Perhaps this is somthing to consider with your PS.

Hello, thank you for your question and sharing that with us. There are a lot of women who share this concern. A breast augmentation does not change the natural shape of the breast tissue. The natural breast tissue sits on top and the implant sitting on the base of the breast can be round pending whether or not you go over or under the muscle. to correct the glandular tissue "pointed" in shape, you will have to get breast tissue reshaping. You will have to consider scars around areola and breast. hope this helps.

Your natural breast tissue will always sit on top of an implant - that is something that cannot be changed with a standard breast augmentation. If we place an implant in the pocket of a breast with significant overlying tissue, you will generally end up with a larger version of the breasts you already have. Changing breast shape is easy when a patient has very little breast tissue to begin with, but much more challenging when a patient has significant overlying breast tissue. For this reason, it is recommended that you have a breast lift and implants so as to excise excess skin and some tissue, and reposition the nipple to a more medial position. This will rectify the "pointy" appearance and with an implant can create a rounded breast. Of course, there is no guarantee with any surgical procedure and you should take into account the additional risks associated with the lift aspect.

I often tell my patients that they can expect a larger version of what they already have post augmentation. While an implant can change the appearance of breasts regarding volume, it's exceedingly hard to move away from your breast "footprint." I would consider scheduling a consult with a board certified surgeon so they may take precise measurements to determine the proper course of action for your particular anatomy. The technique I recommend is a mini lift. Using a circumareola incision, your breast tissue is reshaped, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. At the same time, fat transfers or small implants can be placed totally submuscular.

determining whether you need simply a breast augmentation versus a breast lift can be somewhat complicated. It depends on a number of factors including skin laxity and current nipple position. Generally speaking, if the nipples are lower than the inframammary line the patient will most likely need a breast lift. If the nipples are at or above the inframammary line we can generally get by with just a breast augmentation depending on the size of the implant the patient wants. I often still using implant when I perform a breast lift because it provides more upper breast fullness after the lift. To be sure a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon will help determine what the patient actually needs.

Hello, breast augmentation can make breasts look rounder but if you look at many before and after photos, you will typically see that the original shape of the breasts has a big impact on the final result. For example, if the nipples are lower on the breasts or if they are asymmetrical, they typically will still look that way after breast augmentation. Sometimes breast lift surgery is required to correct low or pointy nipples.
