What soap or body wash should I use for my first shower after vertical breast reduction surgery?

Very mild for hypoallergenic soap and water is recommended after surgery. Do not use any scrubs or soak the area. It is important to air dry or pat dry before applying appropriate dressings to the area.
I would recommend that you see a board-certified plastic surgeon who is a member of both ASPS & ASAPS and has plenty of experience in breast surgery. Go over your concerns with them and make sure above all, you walk out of there with several options and an idea of the pros and cons to each of them as well as realistic expectations.

Thank you for your question. I instruct my patients to use their regular soap or body wash that they use pre-surgery that they know works for them as long as it is pretty mild. However, I tell my patients not to directly scrub the incision site. Instead gently just let the water drip down, making sure the back is facing the stream. It is also okay for you to air dry and or gently pat dry. I recommend following up with your plastic surgeon for his specific recommendations. Best of luck to you!
