5 weeks post op, how long after breast reduction surgery can I expect my breasts to shrink?

Dear leg12151987,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast reduction surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. The swelling you are experiencing at this point in your BR recovery is normal.  It may take six weeks to six months for the swelling to resolve; the final results of your BR may not be apparent for a year. Postpone purchasing expensive lingerie with a professional bra fitter until then.

The performance of breast reduction invariably results in swelling which takes a variable time to resolve, depending upon general health, self care, and activity. Generally, it takes 6 weeks for the majority of swelling to subside, but it may take a year to totally resolve.
I wouldn't spend too much money for a bra at this time as there may be further reduction in size.
