Question

I had bought a salyclic acid(11.25%) to remove moles and wrats and my skin burnt and looks like scarring and left red marks on my nose and neck . I have been given 1% hydrocortisone by the Gp.

Thank you for your post. I'm sorry to see that you suffered burns from the salicylic peel you applied. It is never safe to purchase over the counter peels. You should always see a skin care professional to perform your skin care treatments. The good news is your skin will heal. It is going to take some time. The redness will eventually fade but, you do have the possibility of hyperpigmenting due to burning and having a darker skin tone. Keep your skin moisturized and make sure to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Be patient and good luck.Regards,

Hi, I am sorry that you have developed this. Remember , chemical peels are always safe under a medical supervision irrespective of the indications. Skin lightening agents followed by a proper sun protection will lighten this hyper pigmented skin and may take minimum a months time. Good Luck.
