Thanks for your question! This can vary patient-to-patient depending on how they react to anesthesia, the narcotics they are taking, etc. You can always try an over-the-counter stool softener first and if that doesn't work, I would recommend Miralax. If you can, I would avoid laxatives as they can cause a great deal of discomfort. Good luck!
Anesthesia and narcotic pain medication can slow down your regular bowel movements. You can use over the counter stool softeners to help. You can also drink prune juice and eat high fiber foods. If these things do not help, contact your surgeon for further advice.
This is different for every patient. The narcotic pain medication will make you constipated, so it is normal not to go as regularly as you did prior to starting the pain medication. I prescribe a stool softener for all of my patients to help with this. It is actually sold over the counter - Colace. If you had any issues with constipation prior to surgery, then you may need something stronger. It is not abnormal to go 5-7 days without a BM. It can be pretty miserable if this happens, so it is best to stay ahead of the game.
Thank you for the question.Unfortunately constipation is very common after plastic surgical procedures. I usually suggest high-fiber food, prune juice and weaning off narcotic medications soon as feasible. Medications may also be useful depending on the specific situation, patient allergy, and surgeon preference.Generally, it is advisable for patients seek assistance from their operating plastic surgeon if the constipation persists past 4 to 5 days. Best wishes.

From your description it is advised that you first lose weight and have your high blood pressure under good control before considering a Mommy Makeover. Those with a BMI above 30 are at higher risk of complications such as seroma, poor wound healing and infection. Losing weight will also give...
It is best that you clear using this medication on your incisions with your surgeon. At times medicated creams or lotions with fragrance can cause irritation to incisions. It will not impact your seroma healing if used.
