Will someone always look younger/fresher after a lower face and neck lift compared to someone who hasn't had anything done as both continue to age, or does the operated face catch up with the other person in time ?

Thanks for sharing a great question.  You will always look younger after a lower face and neck lift for the rest of your life compared to an identical twin that did not have the procedure.  The operated face will not catch up in age. The procedure will set back your clock and you will continue to age albeit slower. Consult with several board certified surgeons to review your candidacy.

This is my expertise and a huge portion of my practice. Asymmetry is normal and expected. Buccal fat pad gives slimming not symmetry. Masseter botox will make you slimmer and make the jawline more loose. Fillers help give shaping and contouring. If you want perfect or close to perfect symmetry you need maxillofacial surgery or implants customized. I suggest seeing an expert to go through all options. Most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus8 or PiXel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done. I explain to my patients that I will make you look younger and that you will age going forward. However, you will always appear younger than if you never had the procedure done. So lets say the face and neck lift made you look 10 years younger, then in 20 years, you will still look about 10 years younger than you would  have, had you not done the procedure.  Hope this makes sense.     :-)

Thank you for your question.  This is a question I get asked regularly, unfortunately a facelift does not stop the ageing process; gravity will still always be our enemy.  A facelift however will prolong the ageing process, therefore if you have a facelift now, each year your skin will become a little more lax than the previous year, and so on.  Perhaps in 7-10 years you will look like you do now, before your procedure.  Unlike Breast Augmentation, where we always suggest that in time, the likelihood of you wanting or having another procedure is high.  If you have a facelift, you can have 3 more if you wish, or you could only every have one.  Please make sure you find a reputable and qualified plastic surgeon who can assess you properly to give you a realistic idea of what outcome you can achieve.  All The Best

This is a good question.  The primary goal of a facelift is to look younger and more beautiful. When a patient is ready to have a lift, it should be done.  Operations are performed for problems and if the problem is not there, the patient will look funny afterwards.  Everyone should consider doing facial surgery because it is a lot easier to have it and the results are very rewarding.  Of course your surgeon must know what he is doing and look at his before and after photos.  I always like to say, your face is your diamond.  Polish it well and you will shine brilliantly.   Hi, I have performed facelifts for over 30 years and have performed many minimally, invasive type facelifts.  This is a frequently asked question by potential facelift patients.  I believe this question arises from patients seeing some "over pulled", "windswept" or unattractive looking faces on TV or in person following a facelift procedure.  Based upon the beauty principles that I developed over 3 decades, women look the most feminine and attractive with heart shaped faces.
  It's my humble opinion, after decades of performing this type of medicine, that aesthetic results are dictated by the Surgeon's ability to understand and follow the basic beauty principles.  Once these are violated, the unwanted, tell tale signs appear.  So to answer your basic question: Yes, it is my belief that when facelifts (like all plastic & cosmetic procedures and treatments) are performed by an experienced surgeon/provider who understands and follows the aesthetic principles that make a woman more feminine and a man more chiseled and masculine...they will look better than someone of similar appearance that has done nothing.  This is a basic tenet by which I practice and is at the core of what I teach and believe.  Following this line of aesthetic reasoning, not only does each procedure add to the overall level of attractiveness but subsequent procedures continue to do the same...again as long as they follow the proper aesthetic principles.
 Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation.  Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face and body beauty, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces.  Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front.  Cheek augmentation with a dermal filler or using cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face.
 When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin.  Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face.   I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick and highly effective.
 If you have "jowls” these are sagging facial tissues and an indication for some form of a SMAS facelift.  The underlying SMAS layer, of the face, must be dissected, lifted, trimmed and re-sutured (not merely folded or suspended with threads or sutures that will not last).  The excess skin is then removed and the facelift incisions closed.
 My most popular facelift is the minimally invasive, short incision facelift that has all the benefits of more invasive facelifts (traditional, mid-face, deep plane, cheek lift and subperiosteal facelifts) but with these added benefits:
very small incisions and no incisions extend or are placed within the hair.
minimal tissue dissection = less bruising and swelling = rapid recovery ( several days instead of weeks or months with the more invasive type facelifts mentioned)
can be performed in 90 minutes or less, with or without general anesthesia
no incisions within the hair = no hair loss
excess fat can be removed
excess skin removed
cheeks, chin and jaw line can be augmented with dermal fillers (I prefer Restylane Lyft) or facial implants
most patients fly back home to parts all over the world in as little as 3 days post-op

I combine facial shaping with every facelift procedure.  When jowls are present, these should be done in concert and not alone or separately in order to create a naturally, more attractive face.
