Do I qualify for a chemical peel? (Photo)

Question

I have always had bumpy scaly skin on my chest ever since I remember. It doesn’t hurt - it’s just my skin in that one area. I have been doing research as I absolutely hate my skin there. I’m too embarrassed to wear lower cut shirts. Would chemical peel be a possible option as I know it can cure acne but I also saw it can cure “rough skin” as well. Please advise! Thank you

Thanks for your post. This area of the chest is commonly affected from sun damage and can lead to rough, darkened skin. Yes, chemical peels and laser treatments are common methods to improve the appearance. There are a lot of options--my advice is to visit a board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist with experience treating this area to discuss various methods of treatment. Good luck!

Yes, chemical peels can help with uneven skin texture and dark marks all over the body, including the chest. Usually a series of treatments will be needed, not just one chemical peel. Talk to your board-certified dermatologist to find out which would chemical peel (there are many different types) will be the best option for you.

Hey there,Skin over the chest area when compared to other body areas is more delicate and vulnerable to ageing, sun exposure. This is because of less number of oil secreting sebaceous glands there. 
  
A series of glycolic peels, with prior conditioning of the skin with vitamin A and C topical creams and a sunscreen is an excellent option to improve the texture and tone of the chest area. The other options include: Microdermabrasion, Co2 laser resurfacing along with PRP injections - Combining all these treatments can help to achieve a clear, smooth and hydrated skin by collagen induction.

Chemical peels help overall your skin texture . It will also help to even skin tone if any pigmentation or scarring is present. The amount of peels you will need depends on how damaged the skin is. Always apply Sunblock SPF 30 or over with ZINC.
