I have a mole on my inner labia RIGHT next to my clitoris - is it safe to have my derm remove this or should I see a specialist?

I have a small light brown mole on my inner labia RIGHT next to my clitoris (about 1/16 inch away). My dermatologist recommended biopsying/removing it, but I am concerned about nerve damage and/or pain during the injection of the anesthetic and after the removal. Should I be seeing a gyn/onc doctor or another specialist for this - or will the procedure to remove the mole be the same regardless.

The procedure sounds worse than it is. You may be sore for a day or  two but it should not damage your clitoris.  Pigmented spots arise on the genitals. If the  doctor thought this is unusual and should be removed,   I would follow his/her recommendation. A dermatologist can do this procedure.

One needs to remove the mole and place the scar so as to be of minimal if any distortion to the surrounding tissue.See a plastic surgeon with experience in doing labiaplasty, they will take all this in consideration when removing the mole for biopsy
