Answer: Chemical Peel Thank you for your question about chemical peels. There are several different factors that can affect the out come of chemical peels. 1. The technique of the person doing the peel. Be sure you are seeing an experienced provider. 2. The state of the skin prior to the peel. It is advised with most peels that you stop using some topical skin products such as retinoic acid. 3. The care of the skin post procedure. It is very important to follow the skin care instructions given by your provider. A couple of important directions are to avoid the sun, avoid vigorous exercise (sweating), and do not scrub or "peel" the skin as it begins to peel. You may be having some irritation from the peel. I would encourage you to contact the provider who administered the peel. To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Redness and tender skin are normal on day one Hey there,Skinceuticals Advanced corrective peel is generally used to reduce hyperpigmentation and to improve overall skin tone and texture. It usually has a downtime of a week and initial redness, flaking and peeling are normal following the peel. So, it’s better if you follow the post peel instructions of your aesthetician. Redness and tender skin are normal on day 1 post peel and need not worry about that and keep following post peel instructions and hopefully you will have good results.Hope this helps.

Answer: DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN Please do not use neosporin on your face at this time. From pictures, the redness and darker spots are normal after a peel. You need good post-procedure creams that will nurture and sooth your skin. You should also speak to your provider who performed the peel regarding post care instructions. I love the Cicalfate post procedure emulsion or restorative cream from Avene to heal your skin. If you cannot get those products on time, use good ol' cetaphil cream. Remember to be religious about your sunscreen doing this time as your skin is so fragile. Use also a 'boring' gentle cleanser such as cetaphil cleanser. And definitely resist picking your skin! NO NEOSPORIN! Dr. Huo

Answer: Burns after chemical peel Contact your provider for specific post-peel instructions. Your symptoms and results should improve with time, particularly if the peel was a short time ago. Do not apply anything harsh to the skin. I would not use neosporin at this time. Avoid the sun, heat, and anything abrasive. Only cleanse with a gentle cleanse, one provided with the peel or something like Cetaphil gently cleanser for all skin types (the white creamy kind, NOT the clear gel). Best of luck.
