Hi, I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. When it comes to treating fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity, the CO2 laser is often the better option. Because it’s a more aggressive treatment, it stimulates deeper collagen remodeling, leading to smoother, tighter skin and longer-lasting results.
Fractional CO2 laser is an excellent tool for skin rejuvenation in our center in Santa Monica. We use the fractional multi-depth ablative approach to help resurface the skin, recontour acne scars, improve incisional plastic surgery scars, and reduce surface irregularities from skin tone to dark pigmentation. Our approach utilizes a multi-depth approach that targets melanocytes in the epidermis and collagen fibroblasts in the dermis. This approach can be combined with a TCA Peel in a process known as a sapphire peel. Fractional laser is excellent for acne scars and contour scars in the skin. Patients are advised to undergo skin protocols with Melarase creams before and after treatment to help reduce pigmentation. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. After the laser, we expect redness for a few weeks as the skin improves. PRP and Hydrafacial enzyme facials can further improve skin quality after fractional co2. Best,Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon
Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin Winnetka and Chicago. To improve the appearance of the eye area, a CO2 laser treatment can be highly effective. This procedure utilizes fractional CO2 laser technology to target the skin around the eyes, addressing issues such as fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation. The laser stimulates collagen production and promotes skin tightening, which can result in a more youthful, refreshed look. The treatment is precise, allowing for careful targeting of delicate areas without affecting the surrounding skin. While some redness and swelling are normal post-treatment, recovery typically involves a few days of downtime, with results becoming more apparent as healing progresses. I hope this helps and best of luck!
The very fact that people jump to asking, "Which laser...." instead of asking, "What is the best treatment for..." is a testimony to the power of marketing hype and social media buzz in swaying our opinions, judgments and shaping our purchases. The fact is that, at least from the photos provided, relatively expensive laser treatments of any kind, besides lacking a whole lot of hard science to back up their use, carry risks for all kinds of complications, including scarring and often persistent or permanent dyspigmentation (particularly in SOC). On the other hand, for simple rejuvenation, the use of a series of in-office superficial peels, such high concentrations of glycolic or salicylic acid, Jessner's Solution, or low concentrations of TCA have a long and proven track record for improving skin quality and texture, especially when accompanied by the appropriate at-home maintenance use of certain topical Rx medications. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist. And finally one other very worthwhile piece of advice. Don't go in to any venue asking for any particular expensive light and energy-base gizmo treatments that you've heard or read about because, in all likelihood, and to your later disappointment and financial waste, you will get exactly what you ask for. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Hello Adriana. We do not recommend either of those lasers. Because of your skin type and the risks of hypopigmentation with CO2, we resurface with Sciton’s erbium laser. You can see the results at the link below. This is full field resurfacing, NOT fractional and works to remove the fine lines and wrinkles in the photos. You may also need some Restylane injections for hollowing under the eyes after recovering from resurfacing.
Hi!This is a great question! Undereye skin is notoriously thin and is affected greatly by aging and sun damage. Some of my favorite treatments are PRP injections for the skin quality of the undereyes, as well as microneedling with PRP. I also love to treat patients with a series of lighter CO2 laser treatments over time, to thicken the skin in the area and help the fine lines/crepiness.As always, an in depth, in person consultation is required to fully evaluate and formulate the best treatment plan for you.Best,Eleni SgantzosBoard-Certified Dermatology PA
This is a great question, and I appreciate you bringing it up. Since your last CO2 laser treatment was eight years ago, and you’ve already undergone three ablative CO2 treatments over the past 27 years, it’s understandable that you’re wondering if a fourth session is the right choice. Shou...
Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus...
Hi B! Dr. Ruter here from Syracuse Plastic Surgery in Syracuse NY. Not all CO2 lasers are created equally and there are a number of settings that can be adjusted which will impact that answer. For instance, a fractional CO2 laser has less downtime but a less intense result than an ablative CO2...
