Up bleph scars - Should I use a silicon based scar cream or one without silicone?

When did you have the surgery done?   Initially the scar may appear red, and possibly a little irregular.  With time these issues will resolve.  If a scar is hypertrophic, you may need a steroid injection.  Biocorneum is a silicone based product so can help scars improve.  I have had patients use it over their facelift scars, and it is probably safe to use on the upper eyelid.  But check with your surgeon first. 

I do not have experience with Kelosoft, but the primary plant ingredient in the product should be used with caution as it may have negative interactions with other products.  As well, I have never seen conclusive evidence that would suggest the primary ingredient would help with healing or the appearance of scarring.  Silicone has been proven to make scars look as imperceptible as possible, so we recommend our patients use silicone based products like Biocorneum twice daily.  I would recommend contacting your surgeon's office to ask what they specifically recommend you use.Best of luck!

Upper blepharoplasty incisions usually heal very well. The issue is that it takes up to a year to know what the final scar looks like.  I would be very hesitant to put any topical agents that could get in your eye without discussing with your surgeon about the safety of the product for your eyes.  I use biocorneum for my breast and body cases and have had good results with them, but I am not sure if they are ok to use around the eye.
