Do I have scar tissue or something else?

Question

Sub total hysterectomy in 2001. Scar re opened in 2008 for removal of fallopian tube,ovary and cysts.Left side also rmoved 2004.Is this due to scar tissue? if so help? If not.what could it be? i have extreme pain on my right side moving towards my groin.After bending,stretching and even walking i need to lie down.The pain is intermittent,sharp and pulling.The pain is within my hysterectomy scar and just above it.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

It's difficult to answer this without an in-person evaluation. This may be scar tissue, but I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation. Scarring can be improved with lasers and microneedling/prp. Best, Dr. Emer

I don't see that you have included a photo. Even with a photo, I think it is VERY important for  you to follow up with the surgeon who did your procedure. Pain is a non specific finding (means that it does not necessary point to the answer but it means you need to GET an answer as to why it's there). Most surgical scars are not painful later on. You may have pelvic adhesions, ie, scar like tissue on the inside that have to be treated by the surgeon. This can be done with laparoscopy which is a simple procedure. I would encourage you to see the gyn surgeon FIRST.Hope you get answers,Dr Beverly Johnson
