Would Botox help me achieve rounded, larger an d wider eyes? (photo)

Question

I have heard about botox being possible around the lower eyelid in the orbicularis oculi. midline. I know you have to be a suitable candiate and im hoping i am, can you help please? I would love my eyes to appear more rounded and larger. Attached a photo for reference

Thank you for sharing your photo and your detailed question—it really helps me understand what you’re hoping to achieve. Botox can sometimes be used around the outer corners of the eyes to create a subtle lifting effect, which may make the eyes appear more open and refreshed. However, Botox on the lower eyelid or midline area is generally approached with a lot of caution, since this is a delicate area and we want to avoid side effects such as weakening the eyelid muscles too much.

For creating a rounder or more open eye appearance, Botox alone may not always give the full result you’re envisioning. Sometimes a combination approach—like Botox in very precise areas, dermal fillers to restore volume around the eyes, or even other non-surgical treatments—can achieve a more noticeable and safe improvement.

The best plan is always tailored to your facial anatomy and goals. You might be a good candidate, but I’d recommend an in-person assessment so we can carefully evaluate muscle balance and eyelid position before deciding on the right treatment.

Botox can be used to open the lower eyelid. When placed in the lower eyelid the Botox can relax the orbiculares muscle and relax the contraction to the lower eyelid. This treatment is good for patients that have a lot of covering of the lower iris. Normally the lower eyelid should cover 1-2 mm of the inferior limbus, or colored part of your eye. It does not appear that your lower eyelid covers more than this area of your limbus so I do not think you would see a significant benefit from this treatment.

From the provided photo it's unlikely that Botox will help you achieve wider, more rounded looking eyes.  When Botox is used on the lower lid it is for those with a hypertophy of the muscle the hugs the lower lid. You do not appear to have that.   When it is used inappropriately or too aggressively it can have unwanted results. Botox can give a refreshed "rested" appearance to the eyes by softening crow's feet and giving a conservative brow lift.
