My toddler scratched me 2 days post peel, is this an issue? (Photo)

I had the perfect peel yesterday and it is now post peel 27 hours - my face is very red and uncomfortable but to the expected amount. My 19 month old toddler decided to go wolverine on my face and scratched my cheek quite badly - it has broken the skin and produced some slight puss...will this cause scarring? Is there any way for me to treat it to avoid difficulties? I haven’t started peeling yet.

I am sorry to hear about the scratch. I would recommend you see your doctor, who supervised or performed the peel about a prescription for treating / preventing infection. After a peel your skin is more susceptible to infection and fingernail especially of toddlers can carry lots of bacteria.  Only time will tell is this will leave a scar. Getting any secondary infection treated promptly will lessen the chance of scarring. Wishing you the best of health, Dr Wright
