Is a nose job going to ruin my face? (photos)

If you do not have breathing problems, there is no medical indication to perform a septoplasty. A septoplasty is only performed when patients have breathing issues out of the nose. A septoplasty does not change the shape of the nose A rhinoplasty can shave down the dorsal hump and decrease the overall projection of the nose and refine it.   Rhinoplasty is the hardest operation to perform in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so choose your surgeon very wisely. If a patient isn't experiencing nasal obstruction, I would not perform a septoplasty.  Surgery in the absence of an indication doesn't have an upside and potentially could make your breathing worse.  Although photos aren't a substitute for an examination, your photos do not show a prominent dorsal hump, but do show slight over-projection of the nasal tip.  If the appearance of your nose leads you to consider surgery, pplease make sure that you are seeing an experienced Rhinoplasty surgeon.  Rhinoplasty is by definition the most complicated of aesthtic procedures.  A Rhinoplasty won't ruin your face, but an experiecned Rhinoplasty Surgeon might.

Overall you have very nice features to your nose. If the slight dorsal hump disturbs you, it can be easily lowered by rasping. The important thing to remember is the contour and structure must remain natural and fit your face. Make sure you are evaluated by an expert in rhinoplasty and communicate your concerns to him.  Subtle changes in the nose are critical. Best wishes.
