It's 5 months post cheek implants. Today I have pain around lower rim of right eye socket. Should I be concerned?

So five months have passed since my cheek implant surgery. I have had no discomfort on my right side it's only been my left with tenderness so far. But today I have a inner bruise like pain on my upper right area. It is tender to touch and slight swell. The bruise like pain especially when I squint or smile. Now that this amount of time has passed should I be concerned? Or is it something unrelated. My surgeon is Ina different county so I am worried. Please advise. Thank you

Thank you for the question. You need to be evaluated by a doctor who performs cheek implant placement surgery. Five months after the procedure, you should not have new pains. There may be an infection or the implant could have shifted. Typically if the implant moves, it goes downward toward the teeth; it would be somewhat uncommon for it to move upward toward the eye without some obvious trauma. Take care.

It is not usual to develop pain 5 months after placement of cheek implants.  You really need to be examined to determine what might be causing your pain.  If you are unable to see the surgeon who performed your surgery, you should see someone else.  I would recommend seeing a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon.
