Answer: Genetic In general genetic male pattern balding is not a condition which you can reverse or completely stop. In general there are medical treatment options such as Propecia or Rogaine that can slow the process down. You should follow up with your doctor.

Answer: Tteatment of hair loss at age 21 Thank you for your question and for posting photos. You would be best suited by seeing a physician who specializes in hair restoration to get an expert opinion. Hair loss can have many different causes, the most common of which is male pattern baldnessl, also known as androgenetic alopecia (AGA), which appears to be the cause of you loss based on your photos. This can be treated medically with finasteride (Propecia) and minoxidil (Rogaine), non-surgically with Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), or surgically with hair transplantation. Medical and non-surgical management cannot replace hair that has been completely lost, but can reverse hair that has become miniaturized (thinned) as a result of AGA. These are important adjuncts to hair transplantation, as it is very important to lessen the progression of further loss of existing hair. Options for hair transplantation include follicular unit transplant (also known as a strip procedure) and follicular unit extraction (also known as FUE). FUE is a technique where each individual hair follicle is removed from the back of the scalp and transplanted into the areas of loss. Neograft and the Artas robotic hair transplant are in fact simply devices which are used to perform FUE hair transplant. In addition to these there are several other ways to similarly perform FUE with the same beautiful results. Keep in mind that one of the pitfalls of hair transplantation at such a young age is that we do not know the degree of hair loss you will have as you age. Only so many grafts can be harvested from the donor area and you may have insufficient donor hair for future hair transplant. The best predictor of the degree of hair loss you will have is family history, but this is also not a perfect predictor. I suggest you seek a consultation from an expert in hair loss and hair restoration to determine the very best option for you. Best of luck!

Answer: Progressive hair loss at 21 years old Minoxidil is not the first line of defense for male pattern hair loss. The vast majority of hair loss experts would recommend that you get started on Propecia (or generic finasteride). Low level laser therapy (LLLT) might also be effective in combination with Propecia/finasteride. Although 21 is quite young to consider a hair transplant, especially if your hair loss has been getting worse by the year, the photos suggest that perhaps you might be an exception to the rule. I would advise you to get 2 or 3 opinions from hair transplant surgeons with whom you could meet face to face to see they would consider you an appropriate candidate for surgery.
