I want to know my options on a strengthening my hair and help with my hairline feels like I have to much forehead while others have a balanced hairline. This sucks and is a real confidence killer.
Answer: Thinning Hair -- Rogaine, Propecia, Viviscal, Progesterone, PRP If you have thinning hair you really need an evaluation to see if it is genetic or from another cause like stress or autoimmune. If it is determined to be genetic there are many options and traditional treatments like rogaine foam and propecia pills can be used. I have great success in my practice using injectable progesterone and prp to the scalp. I suggest seeing a dermatologist with expertise in hair loss. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: 25-year-old African American male with hair loss There are good reasons for any 25-year-old with diffuse thinning and early hairline recession to postpone the decision to have a hair transplant, especially when there has not yet been a trial of medication. Your first step would be a thorough in-person evaluation by a hair loss expert to assure a correct diagnosis. Treatment options could include medication (Propecia/finasteride; Rogaine/minoxidil), "PRP" (platelet rich plasma) injections, topical cover-ups, shaving your head, scalp micropigmentation (SMP) or a combination of these. A hair transplant might also be a consideration, now or down the road, but it is important that you speak with one or more surgeons with extensive experience in performing African American transplants who can properly inform you and advise you regarding the pros and cons.

Treatment options include drugs like Propecia, to slow down or stop the hair loss, or just shave it off and get scalp micropigmentation which is now becoming an increasingly popular approach for many men that don't want to go through an expensive hair transplants (see web reference below).
