Unable to close my lip after a lip reduction (Photo)

Question

I am unable to close my lip after a lip reduction done 36 hours ago. I have a slight bit of mouth protrusion to begin with but I was able to close my lips fully before the surgery. Was there excess tissue removed from my upper lip that caused both lips to be unable to be closed naturally now? I'm really worried it could lead to disfigurement or showing of the teeth.

Hi JamesNg,Keep in mind when receiving a lip reduction, the final result is really not seen for two to three months. Most people feel comfortable back in public at 3 days but this varies from individual to individual.Best,Anil Shah MD

Dear JamesNg,lips are very sensitive area which tend to swell after the surgery so this might be the cause of your inability to close your lips. You are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur and swelling to resolve.
