Did my lip reduction fail? I had it done 12 hours ago. Will there be a permanent scar? (photo)

Hi, Im worried about the circled area in the picture of my lip after undergoing lip reduction surgery 12 hours ago.It has no red tissue on the area above the stitch. Would there be a permanent scar?

Hello, large lips regardless of how they were caused can be reduced in size by lip reduction surgery. This involves removal of a partial portion of the lip with incisions hidden towards the inside of the lip. This is done under local anesthesia as a same day procedure. Thanks.

Thanks for your question. The answer really depends on what you mean by recovered.  Most patients recover enough within a week to be seen in public, but the complete results can take up to 3-6 months.  Hope this helps you and best of luck!

Wendy.   I appreciate your concern and while physical exam and photos is optimal, it sounds like  you would most likely benefit from lip reduction surgery. The procedure is done in the office, under local anesthesia, and it takes about one hour. Recovery is usually one week, as postop, the lip...

From your image provided it appears as if you have nice size and shape lips.  Id be careful about further surgical modification.  Before and after images may prove helpful.
